Sightsee the Tarot: Video Series

SIGHTSEE THE TAROT is a video series on my YouTube channel that takes you on a tour of the tarot, from discovering new books and tarot thought leaders to workshopping classic tarot spreads and tinkering with particular tarot decks.

Together, we’ll work through specialized reading techniques, provocative topics in the world of tarot, or explore notable perspectives and points of view. I’ll guide you every step of the way through these hands-on presentations. Pause as needed and resume the video only when you’re ready for the next step.

When you can’t have a tarot instructor in your home with you, in person, this Sightsee the Tarot series is the next best thing. As your tarot instructor, here is my objective: to coax you out of your comfort zone and get you to try out a diverse range of approaches to the cards.

Divining Tarot with Papus

From Tarot of the Bohemians (1892) by Papus.

And showcasing the Spirit Keeper’s Tarot, Vitruvian Edition, 2019.

First, let’s attempt to jailbreak Tarot of the Bohemians by Papus. I take on the challenge of summarizing the 19th century text in easy, accessible terms (or at least that is the ambition).

Then we’ll walk through a divination approach espoused by Papus where you separate the Minors into the four suits, choose a suit based on the subject matter of the inquiry, cast cards from the suit only, then cast cards from the Majors, all working within a spread that calls upon the Holy Trinity and the quarternary ROTA, which in the preceding chapters, he tells us, over and over ad nauseum, are really important tarot concepts you need to grasp.

Cannot wait for the rest!!! This first episode kind of blew my mind, for real. I mean, I find that readings are usually spot-on but this spread in particular… whoa. Thank you for sharing. Now I’ve got a whole lot of stuff to go off and digest…

  2. Someone mentioned the Nine-Card Open Face Spread video you made on Instagram, so I checked it out. I enjoyed it. It’s different from how I usually do tarot, so it was nice to get out of my “tarot reading comfort zone”. And I’m still thinking about it two days later, which is not something I can generally say about tarot spreads or tarot readings. Thank you.
