Learning the Opening of the Key (OOTK) – Course is Now Free

Opening of the Four Worlds

Just a note for those who might be interested: the “Learning the Opening of the Key” video and workbook course from 9 years ago is now freely available.

You’ll first want to click onto the below hyperlinked page to download the workbook PDF and all supplemental materials:

Now, granted, this video series is 9 years old, and it shows. The substantive content is timeless (in a manner of speaking), but the video quality and layout design of the workbook is… kinda showing its age. =P

I was already not using industry-best video and audio quality 9 years ago at the time of making this course, so you can only imagine how cringey it is now.

Nonetheless, for those eager to learn and willing to brave the cringe, here you go.

Card Counting in the OOTK First Operation

The OOTK blueprint is my go-to divinatory method. If you’ve ever gotten a reading from me, then you’ll know that this is what I use. Whether it’s a 5 minute reading or a 50 minute reading, I’m employing some case-specific derivative or excerpt from this five-operation methodology.

Card Pairing the Narrative String

For the SKT, which is my all-purpose all-seasons workhorse reading deck, I even had to make sure the bottom right corners had the Golden Dawn card counting references (designated via Maya numerals).

The astrological correspondences along the top of the cards are useful references for the Second and Third Operations; I like to integrate I Ching into the card pairings, which works out perfectly since each card is assigned a trigram, so when you do card pairings in the operations, you automatically get an I Ching hexagram correspondence for that pair.

I Ching integration isn’t “purist” to the Golden Dawn methodology, though Crowley was quite into the I Ching, as was Eliphas Levi (based on their writings). Rather, the OOTK primarily employs numerology, astrology, and the Kabbalah.

As it is with pretty much anything in life, I think, you learn the operations “by the books” as well as you can, and then once you’ve got it down, you “make it your own” by changing it up and tailoring the methods to what works for you. I love pulling nuggets of operation from the OOTK and repackaging it into divinatory methods that make more sense to me. It’s how I encourage working with the OOTK: Learn it by the books first, and then modify it so it’s more practical for you. Like the Fifth Operation and Sixth Operation aren’t feasible in most real-world reading settings where you have physical space constraints, not to mention time constraints. So I almost always modify. Maybe here’s where you opt for the Celtic Cross instead. Or there’s another reading spread that you’re super-comfortable with that you’d like to work with instead. So many options for modifications.
