Frater Setnakh’s Tarot Coins and Archangels Set

Frater Setnakh is one of the most incredible, detail-oriented artisans of ritual artifacts I’ve come across. I’ve previously reviewed the 72 Angels Talisman Coins and Cards he sent me, which I keep on display in my sitting room. Here I’ll be showcasing his latest offering, Tarot Coins, along with the Guardian Angel Coins, or Seven Archangels.

The detailing on these coins is incredible, so I’ll also be showing a zoomed-in view of several of the coins, photo essay style. You can click on any of the images and magnify the photo to see just how fine the craftsmanship is here and each coin’s delicate engraving.

Per the ritual artifact description, this is the “world’s very first collection of tarot coins inspired by the Rider-Waite deck.” And personally I have yet to see tarot coins crafted at this level of detail and intricacy. They’re simply exquisite.

The coin backs feature a flower of life pattern, which is also the design on the board that the coins come with.

It’s an emblem of sacred geometry expressive of the Divine Language, which sets the tone for the divinations you’ll be doing with this set.

I believe these coins are cast in zamak alloy, or a blend of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, and copper. And I just can’t get over the relief detailing! I love how the traditional RWS pictorials are extended and adapted for the coin dimensions.

For practitioners whose craft is better enhanced by ritualistic objects and durable tools, you’re going to love tarot coin divination in lieu of the cards. I love the physical, tactile feel of turning the coins over in the accompanying board.

Here’s the divinatory reading spread I’ve been using with my set:

The outer twelve slots correspond with the twelve astrological houses of the horoscopic wheel. For the four quadrants I focus on the four angles, ascendant, descendant, imum coeli, and medium coeli.

The center four tarot coin slots, right to left, correspond with the four Kabbalistic worlds and are primarily interpreted through the four elemental correspondences in tarot.

Then there’s an “as above, so below” situation going on with the three pairs of coins, indicating superconscious or divine influences and subterranean or subconscious, latent influences that are having the most direct impact on what’s revealed by those four center coins, corresponding to the four elements, four Kabbalistic worlds.

Above where you see The Moon coin placed, that position corresponds with the Ascendant in astrology, or Point of Aries, the dawn point of the chart.

I read this as an indication that a lot is in lunar flux at the moment, leaving one feeling confused, uncertain, and indecisive, constantly waffling in decision-making because you don’t feel like you have enough data.

The Emperor coin is placed at the zenith of the chart, the position on this board I’ve assigned to the Midheaven in astrology, so I see this as a forecast of mastery and ascending to a position of visible authority. Strength in the Imum Coeli position and The Hierophant in the descendant amplify that auspicious forecast.

Key 0: The Fool in the “Y” position of YHVH expresses Atziluth in the Four Kabbalistic Worlds, which I read as a message of unmanifested potential, a certain level of innocence or naivete to the power one possesses within.

Whereas Key 13, Death in the position of “V” of YHVH (Air), in utmost mundane terms as applied to present day associations, is telling us something about the social Self, which most likely manifests these days as social media and social networks. It’s the end of one era but the start of a new for this querent. This connects seamlessly to the message of The Fool card in the “Y” position, oft associated with career matters, ambitions, aspirations, and one’s professional life.

For the three “As Above, So Below” pairings in the spread, I read the two coins as having a mirroring relationship. The “Above” position indicates something existing in Spirit, and the “Below” position indicates something existing in Matter, in the material and physical plane.

So for example, here we see The Hanged Man in the above position mirroring Temperance in the below position. The Hanged Man is revealing what’s happening on a higher or spiritual level, or perhaps what’s top of mind, and then Temperance is revealing actions, the situation, physical conditions manifesting in the real world as a result of The Hanged Man.

Since Temperance and The Devil are in the same row, they connect as subterranean influences in combination affecting the current climate.

Look how the background of the classic RWS imagery gets reimagined, for instance, here in The Hermit.

Frater Setnakh also sent The 7 Archangels planetary coin set, which I use in combination with the tarot coins.

They feature the sigils of the Seven Archangels from The Grimoire of Armadel.

The sets come with booklets that outline how to work with planetary hours, invoking the Archangels with these coin sigils, and working with these seals from the Armadel Grimoire.

Working with the Seven Archangel sigil coins and the tarot coins together, I’ll set the Four Archangel coins in the four directions on the board, then the other three of the seven along the top row in the center to watch over the operation. See below photo for a demonstration.

I love this combination approach for a dynamic, layered reading and magical operation, in essence using the 22 Majors and the Seven Archangels as the language for constructing a prayer. Setting the Archangels into the spread alongside the tarot coins also adds a new dimension to the divinatory readings.

Again, just a reminder — click into any of these photos for a close-up view of the coin detailing. They’re just that exquisite.

Using the seven archangel and tarot coins in combination powerfully and meaningfully weave planetary energies, sigil magic, and the tarot archetypes. The sets are thoughtfully designed and deeply functional.

I’ve been reaching for them again and again this past month since Frater Setnakh sent them and they’ve quickly become an indispensable treasure in my practice.

You can use one of the tarot coins as a talisman, keeping it close to you, such as in your pocket or purse, allowing its energy and symbolism to accompany you throughout your day. For example, carrying the Wheel of Fortune coin to invite opportunity, favorable turns, and synchronicity in your day, as an anchor for luck and fortunes, and to stay open and receptive to change.

To clear and charge my new set of coins, I anointed each piece with a very sparing amount of consecration oil, applied with a consecrated cotton cloth. If you opt for this, make sure you don’t let the oil sit directly on the metal for too long. I then passed each coin through the smoke of sacred incense to further charge and attune them to facilitate communication between Heaven and Earth.

Between the oil and the incense, the coins felt fully energetically cleared, aligned, and prepared for use in both divination and ritual work.

The Tarot Coins have strong collectible and display appeal, and so for instance, I love setting these out on a coffee table. I’ll intentionally arrange the coins in a particular configuration to “program” certain feng shui energies. I’ll combine with the Archangel planetary coins.

Holding these coins and working with tarot archetypes in this way is itself a distinct and unique divinatory experience. The coins are so beautifully crafted, full of character, highly-detailed, and most important of all, meaningful. You will immediately connect on a soul level to your new artifacts. Whether for divination, meditation, as talismans, or simply as a collectible, you will treasure your Tarot Coins set as I do mine.

His work is beautiful and finely crafted. It is to be noted that orders to America will unfortunately have a tariff applied to them. I was billed $52 for a set of Goetia coins I ordered.

    1. Oh wow! Yes, his work truly is beautiful. Such a challenge with the tariffs though. I really do love everything he’s created so far! The attention to detail, the care, the diligence, the experience he curates for the buyer, all of it! ❤

hi Benebell, again, thank you so very much for all the work you do, and give. Incredibly generous (I say ‘again’ because a) you are constantly giving, and b) this is my second comment on this site! But am blown away – I bought and received your ‘The Tao of the Craft’ since my last message, and it is indispensable. I only looked you up again recently after searching for you on the internet – I printed your sacred Kuan Yin artwork years ago to place next to hubby’s bedside (I also have prayed her mantra for years) during recovery from surgery (he was given all-clear), and used a talisman from Tao of C to protect him during international travel recently (he was home perfectly safe and sound). Of course, these are all Divine graces. But I feel you give us the most poignant tools and humble attitude to ask and seek, so I just wanted to say thanks. (Ps. You don’t have to reply – this is me trying to exercise sacred reciprocity! Thank you, thank you. Xoo)

Dear Benebell, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughtful and deeply insightful review of the Tarot Coin Collection. Your ability to illuminate the symbolic layers, craftsmanship, and esoteric potential of the coins is truly inspiring, and I’m immensely grateful for the care and expertise you brought to your analysis. I am especially honored by the structured-reading technique you created for the collection, and—with your permission—I will be including your method in the official instruction booklet so that others may benefit from your brilliant approach.

Thank you once again for your time, your wisdom, and your generous support. – Nathan
