FREE WORKSHEETS FOR DOWNLOAD, USE, & STUDY

If you’re serious about independent study, then consider ordering my book, Holistic Tarot and downloading the free independent study guides over at Holistic Tarot Study Guides. It’s based on the Rider-Waite-Smith system and there’s three different courses: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Supplements and worksheets there are keyed specifically to the assignments from the study guides and the book.

Click the above for free Holistic Tarot study guides and supplements.

Even if you don’t follow the independent study courses or get Holistic Tarot, there is a ton of information, reference tables, how-to guides, and intuition-developing exercises and ruminations in those free downloadable study guides that can help you in your tarot path.

The below downloads are more general and pre-date the publication of Holistic. They’re provided here for free because I want you to learn tarot and I want to do what I can to facilitate that learning. That said, I would argue that the study guides (which are also free!) are much better at giving you some structure to your studies.

Click on the titles in all-caps to download the worksheets. The files are compatible with Microsoft Word 2007 or later.

BLANK FORM: YOUR OWN GLOSSARY OF CARD MEANINGS, UPRIGHT AND REVERSED. This worksheet is blank, but for images of the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot cards. As you progress in your studies, fill in this worksheet with your own personal card meanings. Then you won’t need to consult any other reference but this: your very own customized glossary to use for future reference.

LIST OF TAROT KEYWORDS. A table of tarot keywords, integrated from Waite’s Pictorial Key, Crowley’s Book of Thoth, the writings of MacGregor Mathers, and Paul Foster Case.

TAROT KEYWORDS WORKSHEET. If you are brand spanking new to tarot, start with an ordered deck (i.e., Majors, Minors, chronological) and study each card one by one. As you study a card, note your impressions and jot down a few keywords. Compare them to the keywords on this worksheet. Do the keywords given on the worksheet make sense to you given the impression of the card? Yes, then keep the keyword. No, delete and put in what intuitively feels right to you. Beginners should study with keywords, as that makes the tarot a whole lot easier to digest. What’s interesting is the advanced practitioner will circle back to tarot keywords as well. As you develop in your studies, keywords will be fleshed out into statements, affirmations, thoughts, metaphor analysis, astrological correspondences, other cultural, ideological, theosophical, or semiotic references, elemental dignities, etc. Then one day the advanced practitioner will set all that aside and return full circle to keywords. That’s when you’ll know you have truly absorbed the lessons of the tarot.

ELEMENTAL DIGNITIES. Elemental dignities is the chemistry of tarot. This tutorial explains what elemental dignities are and how to apply them in readings. Although it is keyed to the CBD Tarot de Marseille by Dr. Yoav Ben-Dov, those using the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition can still follow along with ease.

RIDER-WAITE-SMITH FLASH CARDS FOR ROTE STUDY. I hesitate to provide this because I don’t want you to get too mechanical with tarot study. Tarot is intuitive and creative. It is spiritual. You can’t just memorize a bunch of key words or phrases, apply them pedantically to a spread of cards, and think that is called tarot reading. It’s not. The intuitive part is crucial. Nonetheless, the beginner student has to start somewhere. I’ve created an easy to print and cut template of flash cards. Print them double-sided, cut into quarters, and voila! you’ve got flashcards. Since it’s a Microsoft Word document, you can delete the default card meanings I’ve put in and use your own. In fact, I strongly recommend doing that. Don’t use my default card meanings because even I don’t use them: I like to read intuitively.

Make sure your printer settings are set to: “Print on Both Sides” and “Flip on Short Edge.” Otherwise the front and back alignment of the flash cards will be wrong.

SELF-GUIDED INTERMEDIATE TAROT COURSE: INTEGRATING THE FIVE COMPONENTS OF CIRCUMSTANCE. I first wrote about this course that I put together here. The Five Components of Circumstance is a cosmological theory based on the Chinese maxim that one’s fortune is based on five factors: 1) fate, 2) luck, 3) feng shui, 4) karma, and 5) education. That theory is a cornerstone in Chinese metaphysics and is used to diagnose an individual’s personal formula for success. Learn how to integrate the Five Components into tarot readings to offer even in-depth, holistic insights to your clients. This download is a PowerPoint presentation. Watch in Presentation Mode on MS PowerPoint, or else it’s going to look really funny with layers, jumbled letters, and such.

LOG OF READINGS. To improve, you need to practice, practice, practice. Chart that practice with these convenient tables.

HT STUDY GUIDES & SUPPLEMENTS

Even if you don’t have a copy of Holistic Tarot, still click over to the Study Guides and Supplements section of this site. There are tons of free resources and downloads there, whether you’re a tarot beginner looking for exercises to help you work with your deck or a tarot master looking to go professional.

  7. Hi I wonder if you could give me some guidance. I am near the end of a created tarot deck and I am looking at how one uploads a tarot online for people to use interactively… eg templates or how to guide. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Blessings Odette

    1. Odette, that sounds like an amazing project and I want to follow your journey! Do keep me posted. Unfortunately I have no knowledge or experience in that area. Are you looking to publish the deck and offer it for sale? Or just use it digitally?

    1. If you have an online presence, which it looks like you do, post a couple of high-quality images of the deck. That way you can gain some traction and buzz. You may go the self published route and even create a phone app that will be interactive, or you can go the traditional publishing route and after generating buzz, your deck can get picked up by one of the major publishers. You never know till you try, right? :-). It sounds really interesting. I’d like to know more.

  8. Thanks. I have no issue gaining attention through my web, blog and FB page when its ready to go. App costs a fortune and publishers are in general a nightmare re business agreements and taking ownership and editorship even if you object. I have self published all my stuff and will continue to do so until I find a publishing company with integrity. I just notice there are free interactive tarot online and wonder how they do it. Blessings.

    Hellow Benebell Wen
I am only writing to you because I believe (Believe it or not, please read between the lines of honesty and true belief) I may have a natural tallent for healing/Helping and problem solving of other, yet not myself. I have never questioned this belief. Yet I believe, i may only use this tallent freely and never for financial gain. As I also believe I could also lose, just as easily? Please do not reply to this email, unless you honestly believe me. As believe it or not, I can read between the lines and also in hearing others words and meaning including body language.
I can sense if what someone is telling the truth or a lie. Imediately? Yet I have had no formal training, just life experience over a period of 5 decades. I have never been wrong yet?

  21. Hi, thank you for the great resources! I did however notice an error on pages 25-26 of the flash cards for rote study. The discriptions need to be swapped (left to right) as when i printed it it came out with the King of cups discription behind the Queen of cups and the Two of Swords description behind the Ace of Swords and vice-versa.
