Booking a divinatory reading session with me?
Here’s what you need to know before we get started. Booking a reading with me implies consent and agreement with all terms noted on this page. The following pertains to both paid and complimentary readings from me. No matter what you’re paying (or not paying–the randomized free divinatory service is covered under these terms as well) for, a divination from me means all of the following will apply.
Purpose and Approach.
Your divination session with me is a custom tailored process designed specifically with you and your concerns in mind. The purpose of this reading is spiritual, to help you reach a greater understanding of yourself and your life path. My approach to intuitive work is not predictive or psychic.
As a general policy, I avoid engaging in fortune telling. I do not use tarot to see what we should not see. Rather, I use tarot to help us see what we should see clearer. You may think you know your personal story, but oftentimes we are too close and too biased. A reading with me tells your story back to you so that you might look at that story from a different point of view. I use divination the way one might use a lantern– holding it up by your side so that it might illuminate your path.
While my readings are not predictive, I do consider them projective. Projections in divination are like projections in a business or financial plan. You’re using known factors and variables in an established algorithm to project into the future what the most probable outcome will be given the present course of events.
In divination, instead of dealing with physical conditions, we’re working with the metaphysical, and tapping into present metaphysical energies to project the most probable trajectory. Positive projections mean you’ll want to stay the course; negative projections mean you’ll want to engage greater personal will to alter the present course and take a different route.
Think of it like Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol—it showed a particular future outcome that would happen to Ebenezer Scrooge if he stayed the course he was on. But after seeing that Ghost, Scrooge changed his ways and thus changed his future. Divination can be used as a navigation tool to help you chart that alternative route for success.
As soon as you convey to me that you want to book a reading session with me and have provided the details I’ve requested, I will consider our session open. In really unverifiable woo-woo terms, that means I’m really thinking of you, have you on my mind (I swear not in any stalkerish creepy way…), and if anything comes to me from wherever woo-woo divinatory messages come, I’ll contact you and let you know what’s up.
Even if you’ve booked a tarot reading with me, I might start yapping to you about astrology, like your natal chart, especially if you’ve sent me your birth details. If you’ve booked a natal chart reading, I might still reach for the tarot or an oracle deck mid-session and we’ll go off on a cartomancy tangent. Before you’ve received the actual reading you’re booked for, you might receive a quick, short bonus something-else entirely.
In other words, no matter what sort of session you’ve booked, be ready for any other sort of divination methodology to come into the fold while our session is open. If that is not okay with you, no worries! Just let me know in advance, as soon as possible. I’ll honor your wish and we’ll stick with what you’ve booked only.
Your reading with me is kept in strict confidence and I will not intentionally disclose your name, personally identifiable information, or even that we had this reading session. Any specific details you provide to me about your life or thoughts that are revealed through the course of our session will be covered by this confidentiality policy. I approach measures of confidentiality and security for my divination session clients as I do for my clients as a lawyer.
However I do have “staff,” meaning my husband James. James handles all of the accounting for my reading services. Payment processing issues are all handled by him. (Generally, I don’t even know who has paid or not paid. He keeps track of that. So more often than not when you e-mail to ask me, “Did you get my payment?” my answer to you, if I haven’t consulted with James yet, is “I have no idea.” Doh.) Getting perhaps a bit too personal, this is just because I really don’t like handling money, addressing money issues, or dealing with money. I’d rather focus on the things I’m interested in and leave all money matters to James.
Such “staff” (i.e., the hubby James) will have access to your name and contact information, but never your reading or your communications with me about your reading. He, too, is bound by confidentiality and won’t disclose your personal information to third parties. Plus, let’s be real with each other here. He doesn’t care enough to snoop and he is way too much of an introvert to share. =)
Do note, however, that from time to time, particular techniques or interpretive methods employed during your reading may be replicated in anonymous case studies for the purpose of teaching tarot, I Ching, astrology, numerology, jiao bei, or oracle reading to others. Thus, if your name is Jane Doe, your birthday is September 24, and something peculiar happened during our reading session creating a teachable moment, in a future tarot studies workshop, I might present a case study to students mirroring your reading session, but refer to you as Babette Yoo, a Libra.
You will be remitting payment as a “service”, not “goods.” You’re not paying me for a product. You’re paying me for my knowledge, experience, insights, foresights, and my time. You’re paying me to set aside everything else in my life, clear my schedule and head space to dedicate entirely to you for the duration of your reading.
In my style of practice, payment is not remitted until after you have received your completed reading. You’ll first book your reading request with me by e-mail, we’ll converse, I’ll give you some boilerplate logistics, and then I will be in touch. Only after I deliver your completed reading or if it’s in person or by live video stream then after the live reading, will you then tender payment in the agreed upon dollar amount.
All posted fees are in U.S. dollars.
If I have completed your reading and delivered it to you, then the agreed upon fee must be tendered to me. No exceptions. There shall be no refunds of any kind, partial or whole. If that scares you off, then that’s wonderful, because we’re not meant to be. If the idea of not being able to get a refund for your reading from me does not sit well with you, then do not order a reading from me.
Do note, however, that for astrology readings, if for some reason we prepared the reading with the wrong birth details and it was my fault, then I am happy to redo your reading. More important to me than what minimal monetary gains I derive from these services is the insightfulness of the reading to you. If your astrology report is based on the wrong information, then it’s useless. And because I am the one who made the error, we’ll redo it, no additional charges to you and you have my sincerest apologies.
The biggest down side for you for booking a reading with me is the timing. A full-time dedicated metaphysical reader should be able to turn over and deliver your reading within a reasonable amount of time, typically within days for a shorter reading type and within a week or so for the longer reading types.
However, I cannot do that for you. Delivery times from me are a total crapshoot.
As you may (or maybe not) know, I work full-time as an in-house lawyer at a venture capital firm here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also write books. I am the author of two published books, Holistic Tarot and The Tao of Craft. At almost every moment of my life, I’m “working on a book,” and that probably includes the moment you’ve booked a reading session with me.
Thus, although I try in earnest to give you a delivery date or window time of delivery for your reading, by booking a reading with me, you acknowledge that time is not of the essence and that your matter is not an urgent or time sensitive one. If you need a clearer and shorter delivery time for a pressing matter, please contact me about my list of referrals. I’m more than happy to share with you contact information to other professional readers who I not only trust, but have gotten readings from so I can personally vouch for their quality and care.
Note also that if I have any reason to believe that you may be at imminent risk of harm to yourself or to others, then the contents of your reading may be disclosed to professional third parties on a need-to-know basis for the sole purpose of preventing risk of harm. A court order issued by a judge could also override any confidentiality terms herein.
By contacting me for an online reading, you are accepting those terms.
A divinatory reading should never be used in place of professional counseling. Your reading cannot offer legal, medical, business, or financial advice.
We are looking only at the metaphysical component to the matter at hand, not the physical factors. A licensed professional must be retained by you to advise you on those very critical physical factors.
By booking a reading with me, you acknowledge that I’ve conveyed to you that I do not identify as a psychic, fortune teller, medium, or shaman and that I am not a licensed therapist, psychologist, or counselor.
In certain jurisdictions, a reader engaged in practices that legally fall under the scope of “fortune telling or divination” is required to disclose to you that such readings should be for entertainment purposes only, and if such a law applies to your reading, then you are hereby on notice thereof. That being said, divination is a form of my personal spiritual expression that I take very seriously, and I will approach your reading session with the reverence and care I approach all sacred arts. So while I encourage you to treat what I say as being for entertainment purposes only, know that from my end, I do not treat it as entertainment, and for me, it is an expression of my personal gnostic beliefs and my faith.
Possible Typos and Typographical Nonsense.
Finally, please forgive any typographical errors or incoherent sentences. I write fast and often in a stream of consciousness style when putting together these divinatory reading reports, and write with the intention of getting my intuitive thoughts down, with much less attention paid to proper grammar.
Did all that seem okay to you?
If yes, then let’s work together!
